  • @ifiwooddesigns

    Great video as always. Jumped into CNC in March and had no guidance or knowledge of anything or knew anyone with in. But was determined and love to learn. Dove head first and built a CNC, learned software and began experimenting as I made stuff for myself or people I knew. I’ll admit that the initial cost was a bit, but from learning and giving stuff out to people, word of mouth got out. It went from my niece posting a plant stand I designed from scratch to her Instagram to someone asking about it. This person ordered 2, then 8, then 24, now another order for 42 sets. Found out she was a buyer for a large upscale nursery and she plans to keep buying so long as they continue to sell. So I haven’t even posted yet or advertised and I’m trying to keep up with demand. So anything can happen and it’s possible. Not to mention I have tons of other ideas that I haven’t even started on because of this. I’ve already planned to purchase a second more powerful CNC and hope to get it in the near future.

    • @ifiwooddesigns
      @ifiwooddesigns 2 дня назад

      @@wendy9937 You know the saying we all hear is just do it? Well to be honest, I was watching a woodworking video and as he was building it by hand, I took measurements and made it into a file. After a couple of pallet wood scraps to test fits, I tried it on the CNC. Now I can perfectly make repeatable perfect cuts each time. The whole stand with all cutouts takes 17 minutes on a hobbyist machine, and I always know it’ll be perfect unlike when I made things by hand which were slightly off. Make things and give them out as you learn and word of mouth spreads like crazy.

  • @alexreid4131
    @alexreid4131 2 дня назад

    Singed up immediately for the info for the CNC Academy. So glad you’re doing that. Been waiting for that. One thing that would be great for you address is the business side of things specifically the math after taxes, paying for life etc. I’m about to go all in on this but doing the math if I were to be an LLC (numbers below just for example based on gross revenue of $150,000): Self-Employment Tax: $22,950 Federal Income Tax: $17,734 B&O Tax: $2,250 Total: $42,934 Here in WA we have a 10% sales tax so that would have to be payed also. Deduct materials and paying the mortgage and buying groceries for a family of four and the left over savings don’t look great. And that’s without paying for our own health insurance etc. And I in no way think I’d be managing $150,000 in my first year or so anyway. That’s not just for woodworking businesses of course but since that’s what we’re talking about here…how do people make ends meet? Would appreciate perspectives from those of y’all that have done it and any advice y’all might have.

    • @cutting-it-close
      @cutting-it-close 2 дня назад

      I will have something on that for sure! I also don’t think your taxes will be that high, you’ll deduct expenses from there. If you were doing 150K in profit after expenses, that is close to what you would pay, but that not what you’ll pay with just revenue.

    • @alexreid4131
      @alexreid4131 2 дня назад

      @@cutting-it-close Roger that and yes it would be great to have you address some of this. Obviously each state is different. I’m guessing hiring a good tax accountant is worth the hourly fees. I’m really not sure what can be written off as business expenses. Thanks again for your content brother and looking forward to the new course.
